Over on High Calling, Clare challenged us to look closely in our photography. The challenge for me is not looking closely. Macro photography is probably my favorite type of photography. The challenge is learning to do it better!
I love how photography has opened my eyes to see things I would easily miss as I scurried through life. No where is this more evident than in taking close up photos. As I train myself to look up, down, all around to find an interesting photo, I always see something unexpected that delights me.
Here are some of my favorite close up photos:

What might be lurking in some little corner of your life today, just waiting for you to spy it and look at it closely?

Love your photos, especially the butterfly (which is impossible for me to catch–I think they are too small in Arizona). And the other one I like is the red flower against the white and tan~almost silky~ background.
Blessings,
Janis
Love these photos, can I ask what kind of camera you have? I would like to start trying my hand at this…..by the way. One thing you posted awhile back has stuck with me all this time, you said you prayed for your seatmate before flying. I thought that was GREAT! I am going to start this. Blessings of the day, Lori
Hi Lori,
Thanks for the encouragement. It is a gift to me, especially in these crazy schedule times.
My love of photography was dormant for many years. Then I started following Ann at A Holy Experience.com. Her photos often take my breath away (as well as her words!). I got a Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP point and shoot and used it for about a year and a half. It takes great pictures. This is the camera I used for the pink water flower in my post. After about a year and a half, I wanted to try to play around with aperture and shutter speed, etc. I found Ann’s blog where she described which camera she uses and I just bought it. I decided there’s no better research than watching someone’s pictures for a year and a half and often being blown away by them. It is a Nikon D90 camera with a Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens. It is way above my ability right now, but I love learning new things and am having fun experimenting with it. I’m planning a trip to New England in October to see the beautiful leaves so I have now splurged and bought a couple more lenses. I’m addicted now!
Photography’s really been good for me. I plan a post on it soon. I see so differently now and even hear differently. It gets me out of the house and doing things which are sometimes hard to do alone. Somehow it’s easier with a camera. I also find people talk to me when I’m taking pictures. It’s so much fun!
I encourage you to go for it! I’d love to hear all about it!
Saying a prayer for you,
Lori
